The project involves the construction of a fifth district cooling plant in Business Bay dubbed ‘Business Bay 5 DCP’, with a cooling capacity of approximately 45,000 Refrigeration Tons (RT). The new development has been undertaken by the world’s largest district cooling services provider, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower). The new plant will use advanced technologies including the application of Artificial Intelligence to reduce the consumption of energy used in cooling processes through sustainable methodologies such as using treated sewage water and thermal energy storage systems. The plant will also be connected to Empower’s centralized command control centre, which provides real-time information and an overview of plant operations.
